Although you'll find many practices located in urban centres, the number of midwives serving rural and remote areas and Indigenous populations is increasing, offering professional maternity care to underserved people. Even if there are no midwives practicing in your area, we encourage all pregnant people in Alberta who would like midwifery care to apply via our central registry as this helps demonstrate the need for midwifery services in your community and supports future workforce planning.
