Why the AAM Board Matters — And How You Can Be Part of It
The Board of Directors at the Alberta Association of Midwives (AAM) plays a vital role in shaping the future of midwifery in Alberta. As the governing body of the organization, the Board helps define AAM’s mission, vision, and values, provides strategic oversight, appoints and directs the Executive Director, and ensures the long-term financial and organizational health of the association. It is also responsible for building strong relationships with the public, government, and members.
Serving on the Board is both an opportunity and a commitment. Board members gain leadership and governance experience, expand their professional networks, and directly impact midwifery care across the province. The Board is composed of midwives, students, and members of the public—and seeks diverse perspectives representing a range of identities, practice models, and geographies.
